Genpact's flagship anti-hunger program, launched 2018, has provided 165+ million meals; in 2024 over 21,000 employees volunteered across India, Canada, the Philippines, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, the US, and UK.

From one million meals to more than 165 million

Meals for Many is Genpact's flagship anti-hunger program, and it has grown far beyond its starting point. The company launched it in 2018 by distributing one million meals to underprivileged communities. Genpact now reports that the program has provided more than 165 million meals over its lifetime.

The engine behind that total is employee volunteering. In 2024, more than 21,000 Genpact employees took part in Meals for Many activities across eight countries: India, Canada, the Philippines, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

The scale, year by year

  • 2018: program launched with one million meals distributed.
  • By 2023: more than 138 million meals provided over six years, including almost 23 million in 2023 alone, with tens of thousands of employee and client volunteers.
  • Lifetime: more than 165 million meals.
  • 2024: 21,000-plus employees volunteering across eight countries.

The work is hands-on rather than purely financial. Genpact highlights that 30 volunteers from its New York office worked alongside God's Love We Deliver, sorting produce and supporting kitchen operations to help distribute medically tailored meals to people with serious illnesses.

Partners on the ground

Meals for Many runs through established hunger-relief partners rather than as a stand-alone Genpact operation. The company has worked with Rise Against Hunger, whose school-feeding programs it credits with concrete outcomes — including, in one account from Vietnam, a malnourished five-year-old who received daily nutritious meals at a partner-supported school and went on to thrive. In the United States, the partnership with God's Love We Deliver connects the program to medically tailored meal delivery.

Part of a wider CSR framework

Meals for Many is one strand of a broader corporate social responsibility effort that Genpact organises around a small set of pillars, one of which centres on better access to health and wellbeing. The company reports that its CSR activities have collectively impacted millions of lives, drawing on a large volunteer base — in 2023 alone it counted well over 100,000 CSR volunteer participants.

Genpact frames Meals for Many explicitly against the UN Sustainable Development Goal to end hunger (SDG 2, Zero Hunger). Its scale — a lifetime total measured in the hundreds of millions of meals — makes it one of the larger corporate anti-hunger commitments in the professional-services sector.

Why it matters

Food insecurity did not ease in the years after 2020; in many of the markets where Genpact operates, it worsened. A program that mobilises tens of thousands of employees each year, in eight countries, turns a distributed global workforce into a distributed relief network. That is a natural fit for a company whose business model is itself about coordinating work across many geographies.

The trajectory is the real story. Growing a hunger program roughly a hundredfold — from one million meals to more than 165 million — over six years is not a one-off campaign but a sustained operating commitment, and the year-on-year volunteer participation suggests it has become part of how the company runs.
